Shopping in Thailand For Pink Tote Bags

I was in Thailand on holiday and was curious to see how cheap the street markets were selling various fashion accessories at. I was in particular looking at tote bags - I saw a really nice pink tote bag there for about 20% of the price I could buy them in the UK. I was astounded - I knew I'd get a deal, but not so cheap. But on closer inspection, I saw that this bag was in fact damaged. In the hubbub of the market, and the pressure sales of the market vendor, it would have been easy to miss the damage though - so no wonder tourists buy up these bags thinking they have a deal. The expression "buy cheap buy twice" certainly applies to this particular bag I was looking at. I felt reassured in a way, I know we pay over the odds in the UK, but at least we have quality control.
