Finding Fulfillment in the Work I Do

posted on 3 January 2012

As a counselor, what I find truly fulfilling in my profession is that I am able to make a difference in the lives of my clients. In the school where I work, I handle high school students and in the many years of being with these young people, I realized that many of these kids have potentials waiting to be developed. I have seen many of them who used to be very shy but are now among the great leaders in school. They tell me that they always look forward to the leadership training that I conduct twice a year. They enjoy the activities and at the same time, they also learn from them. Hearing all these feedback is more than enough for me to strive even harder to come up with more activities that will help these students even more. I am currently in search for new activities which I intend to give to the students before the year ends. Knowing that my work is appreciated tells me that this is where I belong, at least for now.

A Mom Still Misses Her Daughter Badly

posted on 28 December 2011

Dear mom, happy mothers' day! It's your day today, so you need not do anything except to relax. We have you covered with pamper treats from morning till night. If you want, you can take a shower now before you enjoy the sumptuous breakfast we have prepared especially for you. For your information, dad has sought the services of a chef from the best catering services in town so you can expect extraordinary menu for the whole day. Later, we will take you to places you have never been to. We hope you will enjoy this day, as much we enjoy every day of our lives because of you and the things that you do for us. You are really the best mom in the whole wide world. Thank you so much. Ana's tears could not stop falling as she read an old card handwritten by her daughter, Paola. How she misses her daughter. Paola died a few months ago because of a freak car accident. Ana could not yet accept what happened. She has been crying herself to sleep at night since then.

Something Special In Gratitude to Great Parents

posted on 12 November 2011

On Fathers' Day, we thought of coming up with something special to honor the best father in the world - our dad! We looked for pamper treats that some companies have made readily available for their clients. It was not very difficult to find something for dad because he was happy even with the simplest of things. He never asked for anything expensive or grand, he was content with a movie pass, a free hair cut at his favorite barber shop or even with just a cup of coffee. But we wanted to come up with something extra special because we felt he deserved so much more than what he is getting. After a series of discussions with my siblings, we all agreed that a plane ticket to Hongkong would be great! No, he won't be going alone. Mom will be joining him of course. It should give them enough time to bond as a couple again after a long time. They have been wonderful parents to all of us and a trip abroad should put a smile on their faces.

Leadership training teaches soft leaders to be stern

posted on 28 October 2011

Being a leader comes with it perks and also its downfalls. I am a leader and there was a time I was under a lot of stress because my people were not doing well at all. I was even made to appear before the board of trustees and explain why I was the only leader who was not delivering. That was not something that made me sleep well at night. That is when my sister coaxed me in to going for leadership training. She told me that I am a very soft person and did not look authoritative at all and that is why the people I was in charge of did not take my leadership attempts seriously. My sister is the only honest person in my life and I took the advice she gave me and made it practical. The training was an eye opener. I learned one thing that is making me a brilliant leader and there are positive changes. Since I looked soft, I decided never to negotiate with company employees when I told them to do something.

Why meetings for leadership are held in different places

posted on 23 April 2011

During the meetings and seminars, people are supposed to carry out notebooks and pens to put down notes of what to be told. They are expected to be people with good behavior. They should act like mature people such that they don’t make noise at middle of the meeting. Leaders should be people who know how to keep time to attend to meeting of different things. In those meetings they are told how to be early in meetings than time expected for them to arrive. The leadership coaching need people who are dedicated to learn many lessons in the meetings. They should not complain meeting took too long or to leave at middle before it’s over. They should wait till the end no matter how many hours takes even the whole so as to understand all the teachings without missing out any information which is important. They should sacrifice out time to attend meetings of leadership and it will such an advantage because they will be taught things which are of benefit to them and to other people.

I Bought My Son a Racing Bike This Christmas

posted on 1 January 2011

I'm so glad my son has made new friends since we moved house. They're a lot better influence as they love to play sports like football and tennis. He's also joined a cycling club recently and I bought him a racing bike for Christmas as well as some sprintdesign jackets. Where we used to live, there was too much traffic and kids didn't play out on the streets - they were all indoors because parents just didn't feel the streets were safe enough. There was a feeling of fear in the neighbourhood, which is a shame as kids should be able to run around and get fit naturally by playing. Since the move, my son's hardly home anymore - which is a good thing - he comes home with a smile on his face and he's a lot happier. I only hope our new neighbourhood stays this way as it's good for my son.
